Ok I screwed up as well. If one of the mods can change my user name it would be appreciated.

I've been using my real name on the other forum for 11year. Not a big deal at all.

It's funny , I agreed to the rules without reading them and signed up under my common username too. Jake H isn't all that far off the full name . It appears this is epidemic.....Poppy and the other mods are being kept busy. The transparency is cool !

Yes the mods are being kept a little busy because people don't read the rules. Frankly I am quite surprised how many people are just clicking the accept link without reading anything. The approval apparatus is set so no one is approved until I approve them and I'm not approving anyone that doesn't use their whole name.

Sorry Poppy,
Didn't mean to pick a sore spot. It was posted earlier in this thread that many of us have grown accustomed to just agreeing to the terms and conditions without reading them. To be fair, your rules are considerably different and the user name feature would be foremost. I've always used my own name and really appreciate your setting this rule . Sorry it's created more hassle.

PS: I'd like to make a suggestion that we change the name of General Spey Casting Topics to the Fire Pit to reinforce the real name feature of good friends sitting around the fire talking all things steelhead.

Reminder to all. Your profile name must be your real name. If you are waiting for confirmation and you haven't received it, it's because your full name is not evident to us.

Hello everyone,
I just joined the forum and have to admit I clicked on the ok without reading the rules. It's 5:20 am here in nova scotia. I still haven't read the policies and can't find them. I'm hoping to find interesting subjects and learn more on swinging and tying flies.

Welcome Pierre! I hope you find what you are looking for in these pages. The policies are located in the 'stickies' forum at the top of the list. They're pretty informal and hopefully promote discussion and exchange of ideas.

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Yup, I messed up too. But in my defense, I did read the terms and conditions, and thought the idea of using real names was great. When I filled out the form, and it asked for "User Name" though, I filled in my usual user name with out further thought. A few lines later the form asked for First and Last Name, which I also dutifully entered. At the time, I was not sure what the purpose of the user name was, since we were giving our real names anyway. It wasn't until I heard from the moderator confirming receipt of my registration that I realized that the User Name had to be my real name. Maybe a note beside the "user name" box would eliminate the confusion for those of us slow on the hook set!

Looking forward to a great forum!

Jim

Jim, I've tried several times to change the user name format just as you're suggesting but so far have had no luck. I'm still working on it.

Thanks for changing it for me BEFORE I ASKED!  That's what I call service!
I have no problem using my name - just wonder who was who over on that other site.
