So far the only posting is on their facebook site, not even the news has any postings yet. Sad to see but word is that everyone is ok. Boggans was a great place to stop on a cold day of fishing or a hot day of swimming.

Yep. That is a genuine tragedy. Not sure what else to say.

Boggan's Oasis has been part of the heart-and-soul of the Grande Ronde river fishing community for many, many years. The recent loss of the restaurant due to fire is a tragic loss to all who enjoy that river canyon.

Bill & Farrel Vail, Boggan's owners, are safe and currently living in the double-wide rental trailer that is located on the hill above the restaurant. Their old phone number has been reconnected there (509-256-3372) and they are continuing to take reservations for cabin rentals and river shuttles even though the restaurant is destroyed.

There is currently a Go-Fund-Me page for Bill & Ferrel where donations are being accepted. While they were unharmed in the fire, they have lost all their personal belongings, from clothing to computers to medical supplies and everyday incidentals.   https://www.gofundme.com/boggans-oasis-support-fund

Yes, Rick! I saw that video clip (copied from KLEW TV news 2 days ago) as well.

The news report had Bill on the phone, stating that of the 2 offers provided by their insurance company to either cash-out or rebuild, they have decided that they WILL rebuild Boggan's Oasis after all.

The report included that Bill was moved to tears when explaining the outpouring of support and donations that have been received by people from all over the country. Via the TV phone interview, Bill stated "It's just remarkable that people care that much, and it's just fantastic to see...".

The fishing, outdoor and ranching community of that section of the Grande Ronde canyon will be happy and eager to see a new Oasis rise from the ashes!
