My last contribution to this thread is to say that Bruce has assured those of us who reel right-handed that the check will not pose a problem.  My observation might suggest there may be a minor shift in the placement of the pegs used for left hand wind that causes it to be stronger.  While others have suggested bending or grinding, I'm not going to touch that until Orvis makes some kind of statement about the reel.

I have not contacted them.  I was hoping someone with more clout might do so.

My experience with Orvis has always been very positive, I would not hesitate to contact them.

I'l'll most likely see the western US Orvis rep next weekend and maybe his boss. We will be talking about this pawl issue.

IV or V to balance a Ross Reach 6126? Thoughts?

I think the IV is enough for that rod even considering the uplocking reel seat.

Looks like I'll be able to order the IV. Do you think I should wait until you speak to the rep about the pawl issue? This rod/reel will by my summer stick for the NU, Willamette, and D. Planning to line it with a 425 Comp Scandi.

No word. I didn't see the Orvis rep at the show. Apparently they decided not to attend this year. I've got a call in for him.

Received the new IV. Looks and sounds great. Upon inspection, it seemed a bit tight. Manually flexed/bent back the springs (via fingernails) and then applied a little Hot Sauce grease to the gear, pawl, and spindle. Now it feels just a bit tighter than my JW Young 1535.

Seems to have solved the issue for this particular reel. Has anyone else applied grease and/or oil in the same manner?

Will need to field test soon to find out!

Fished today. Reel balanced the 6126 very nicely. The check is great on this reel. Thanks Poppy.

Any recent information on the above mentioned problem with the LH setting being too strong?
