Yesterday I listed an experienced Delta Long for sale a said the sale proceeds would go to my "kids fishing fund". I've had a couple inquiries as to what the "kids fishing fund" is. There is no official "kids fishing fund". It is just me giving tackle to kids that don't have any. Sometimes it's donated from customers and sometimes I just buy it outright and "pay it forward".

Every member of this forum lives where I'm sure there are kids that could use whatever tackle you have to pass on.

My dream goal would be for every member (821 as of today) here to find one or two kids that are interested in fishing and give them any tackle you might have that you could give away. It doesn't have to be fly tackle. A spin cast rod with a casting bubble and 4' or 5' of tippet tied to a Woolly Bugger will catch all kinds of fish and maybe plant the seed of angling enjoyment and resource conservation awareness that we already have.

I have the pleasure of fishing at home and on the Clearwater with a young kid who Poppy has been very generous with over the last couple years, both with gear and information, and I can say that he has had a big impact with this young man.

Here's a pic of my young friend hooked up to a hot steelie on the Clearwater last week sporting a few items passed along from others!

 Keep it up Poppy!!!.

Countless people...me included...have been fortunate to have Poppy's guidance along this twisted road we call spey casting...the "kid's part" makes it even better.
